Adam is graduating!

While I would love to continue my saga of our incredible exodus North and life thereafter, there is something way more important that needs to be addressed. (And YES, I'm bustin' my buttons, I'm so proud!!)
So, I'm interrupting the story for this very important announcement:

Adam is graduating!!
Where: University of Idaho, Moscow ID
When: December 13, 2008
Adam is graduating with a degree in geology and will begin work on his Masters at UI in January!
WE ARE SO TOTALLY JAZZED!!!

Ok, I know that it is now the day after Thanksgiving, but it doesn't seem right to start a blog that places us following Caribou and not include the journey North. So, ignore the dates and come along for the ride!

I'm taking you back to the end of June when movers came and loaded up all our stuff (that would fit) into this lovely crate. And then Bobby and I, five kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats piled into 2 cars, turned our faces toward the north, and took off. Bye, bye Colfax home, you were very good to us!!

It was a later start than we hoped for, we didn't end up leaving Colfax until after 7 pm, but our goal was to make it as far as Tonasket WA that first night (just south of the Canadian border)and we pulled in sometime around 1:00 am. That first night we stayed at this hysterical place called the Junction Laundromat, which was, yes, a laundromat and a motel and surprisingly nice.

Yes, those are our two vehicles parked in front the next morning, loaded to the brim and ready to take on the Canadian border. (The little red Honda and the silver Pathfinder . . . not the semi.) We have passports, birth certificates, veterinary certificates, and NO FRESH FRUIT!!

This whole trip wouldn't have been possible without the most amazingly, generous and grace-filled action of a wonderful, supportive and awesome friend (you know who you are!!) who made it possible for us to replace our falling-apart-gas-guzzling GMC Safari with this beautiful 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
